Our Plans for the Site

At the inaugural meeting of residents in December 2019 and from the emails received in the run-up to that meeting, it was clear that people wanted the site to remain natural and not to become a formal park.

In the autumn of 2020, we ran an online public consultation to find out more about what people want from the site.  We have run the consultation every autumn since.  The findings from the latest consultation are here

Building on these ideas the Trustees developed an overall plan for the site.

The design concept envisages the site as three areas:

The Green Field - a grassland area for play and recreation with seating and wildflowers around the boundaries.

The Copse - an area of woodland with a path weaving through the trees with some bulb planting.

The Orchard - an area of trees and undergrowth, with a cleared central area of wildflowers and other mainly native plants to increase biodiversity and encourage a greater range of wildlife. The existing wildlife habitats will be protected by leaving the edges of the site as "wild" areas. A path weaves around the site.

For 2024 and 2025 we will continue focusing on the Orchard, with just tidying-up and litter picking in the other areas. Our detailed plans for the Orchard are shown.
