Vision, Aims and Objectives

Vision
The Friends wish to create a green space which meets the needs of everyone and which contributes to the economic, educational, social and environmental well-being of people and protects and enhances the environment for flora and fauna, now and for future generations.

Aims

• To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment by reinstating, protecting and enhancing the habitats and increasing the biodiversity of Finchley Way Open Space that has been neglected.

• To advance the education of the public in Finchley in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.

Objectives

• Involving local residents in the design and uses of The Green Field, The Copse and The Orchard areas;

• Improving footfall and enabling easier access by improving the entrances and providing information and notice boards;

• Working with LBB and volunteers to clear overgrown areas, provide suitable habitats, including bird and bat boxes, planting trees, shrubs, wildflowers and bulbs; and

• Organising events and activities.
